Where the locals hangout
Situated just outside of downtown Lexington in the heart of Masterson Station sits The Service Station, a hip, easy going bar who’s building long ago happened to be a Texaco service station. A nod to the building’s former usage is everywhere with the ever-so-drinkable cocktails named after old service station slag (Full Service, High Octane and Flat Tire to name a few). Ice cold beer served individually and in buckets or pitchers are especially satisfying while playing a game of corn hole, pool, or, while sitting at a picnic table.
The outdoor space is expansive and welcoming and sets the perfect scene for catching up with old friends or making new ones. Live Music is also often in the offering. Check our Live Music calendar to see when we have a local her performing.
There’s almost always some sort of food truck that rolls onto the scene offering welcome nosh to pair with a cocktail, beer, or a nice bourbon (there’s a well-appointed selection to choose from). Even if something out of the ordinary occurred and there’s no food truck around, there’s always hot dogs and chips to get tide you over. How are those hot dogs served? A la gas station style of course! Relish, mustard, and ketchup packets to dress up your dog served in an old school paper boat. There’s a little something here called “the special” offered all day every day – a pint of Budweiser and a hot dog for $5!
Let's not leave out the fact there are some great daily happy hour deals! Things like $5 Tito’s, $8 buckets of Montucky, and $5 off pitchers of beer are some favorites. With a nice mix of local beers and other options on draft, discounted beer pitchers is an especially fun one to take advantage of. On the weekends, you can snag something called a Mason Jar Mimosa (think double mimosa) for just $6 or a Tito’s Bloody Mary for just $5.
If you’ve noticed there’s not been a mention of sports yet, we’ll fill you in on that too! NFL sports package is always part of the fold here, and, we always have Kentucky basketball on all three big TV’s every time they play (go cats!). There really is something for everyone and truly a great break from the daily grind. Fun, laid back, and lots to do, this hang out spot just off the beaten path is your new favorite weekly ritual!
